A century on the Capstone
Pi Kappa Alpha was founded by six men at the University of Virginia in 1868. Fifty-six years later, the Gamma Alpha Chapter received its charter at The University of Alabama.
Our history
From Charlottesville to Tuscaloosa
Friendship, love and truth were the foundation the founders chose. Those ideals are what each class of Gamma Alpha inherits.

Pi Kappa Alpha founded
Six students meet at the University of Virginia on March 1 and form a new brotherhood.
- 1924
Gamma Alpha chartered
The chapter is chartered at The University of Alabama on March 27.
- 2010
A new home
The chapter moves into its house at 202 University Blvd.
- 2024
One hundred years
Brothers, alumni and families celebrate the chapter's centennial on March 2, 2024, marking a century of Gamma Alpha at Alabama.
